Intel Postpones Name Change Plans due to strong market protests

There were rumors flying in the processor market that Intel is going to change the name of its Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, Pentium D and Centrino Duo processors into simpler versions of Core 2, Pentium and Centrino. However, latest up comings have revealed that Intel has postponed its plans for renaming its chip which were previously expected to take effect from the starting of the next year. However, Intel has told that they will still be renaming their Viiv platforms and associate them to the Core 2 family. According to sources, Intel's this move is clearly a reaction to the low performance of the Viiv platforms in the market and this step of associating it with Core family might help them get some fruits from the Viiv platforms. Intel has yet not given any new date of when the change will be occurred but it told that this step was really necessary due to the protest they have been witnessing in the market since the rumors of name change spread in the market
